Background
First application of MSE Wall for railway embankment.
ReCo Indonesia managed to secure the first phase of the project which is half of railway embankment under PT. Adhi Karya.
Existing railway tracks are going to be elevated due to upgrade development of railway station.
About 735m long of MSE Wall with height up to 4.2m needs to be constructed for retaining railway embankment.
Moreover, half of facia area of MSE Wall is using “Batik” architectural finish panel. Batik is an ancient fabric wax-resist dyeing tradition of Java, Indonesia.
Challenge
One railway track will be uplifted to above embankment while the other railway track is still operating actively.
MSE Wall cannot be constructed on the existing soil because of its insufficient bearing capacity. Excavation works are required to reach sufficient bearing capacity in depth and sufficient zone reinforcement in width. Because the other track shall operate during construction period, excavation works shall be conducted in stages. This is to prevent stability failure on the existing soil.
Solution
ReCo designs MSE Wall using Reinforced Earth® Wall specification. Total facia of Reinforced Earth® Wall is 2,070 m2.
